Of course you know that (IRL) insects, arachnids, & other arthropods get most of their (proportionate) strength from their "skeleton". It's FAR easier to anchor strong muscles to your framework from the inside - an option which we sacrificed in order to have bodies that could grow larger than any arthropod can manage.
